MUGS (Golf Society)
Chairman’s Introduction to MUGS
![]()
Fellow Members and guests on behalf of the MUGS (Mulligan’s United Golf Society) I welcome you all, and would like to add that I am very pleased to have been given the opportunity to be chairman of this society.
The MUGS is a reincarnation of what was originally a golf society based in Johor Bahru (Malaysian United Golf Society), which was established in 2005 by some of the existing members who are now actively involved in the new MUGS.
The object of the society is to breed a harmonic relationship and provide golfing and social events to members and visitors of all ages, sex and race. Personnel of any standard of playing golf; “Flafers, Hookers, Slicers, etc” can join and will be made most welcome.
The society is non-profit making and will be dependent upon the support of all the members and visitors and greatly welcome any other sponsorship.
The society will develop and maintain a golf handicap system and have designated Sundays as match days. We will play 3 Sundays at our nominated home course of Tanjong Puteri and the fourth Sunday at another location which will be nominated each Month.
After match prize giving (each Sunday), any meetings, and social events will all centre around the “Mulligan’s Pub & Bistro” in Permas Jaya .
Mein Hosts – William, and Agnes are always at hand with cool refreshments, good food and a sympathetic ear to a missed Putt, or an out of Bounds that ruined your Card. Alternatively you could always just tell them that you had a five mile walk with punctuated disappointments.
Before I close this introduction I want to emphasis that the flourishing future potential of this golfing society will be dependent upon the support and co-operation of all the members and although I may see the wording “Armitage Shanks” in the toilets more often than I’d like to admit, I have no doubt that so will a lot of others.
I wish you all the very best and look forward to some good golfing and social events in your company!
Regards,
Ken Wilkie

G’Day MUGS,
Just came across your web site when searcing golf related stuff in JB. I’m a golfer from Darwin (Australia) who is quite partial to a bit of ‘the black stuff’. I visit JB a couple of time each year to see the inlaws and always bring my clubs along and get a few games in. We’ll be back in September for a family wedding and I wouldn’t mind catching up with the MUGS for a game some time.
Longer term were planning to move to JB under the MM2H programme (a couple of years away).
I’m also the web site administrator for the Darwin Golf Club web site, to which I have entered the link above.
Cheers
Poul
